L'expérience démocratique haïtienne au cœur du désert de citoyenneté: (Première partie)

Cet article analyse l'expérience démocratique en Haïti, en prenant appui sur l'histoire de la démocratie depuis la Grèce antique. Malgré l'enthousiasme initial lors de la chute de la dictature des Duvalier en 1986, Haïti peine à atteindre un état de véritable démocratie. L'article examine les défis auxquels fait face la démocratie haïtienne, prise au piège du périphérisme et du narratif occidental imposé par l'hégémonie des pays développés. En Haïti, la démocratie est réduite à une parodie procédurale, le peuple étant maintenu dans l'insécurité matérielle et spirituelle, sans réelle souveraineté du sujet politique. L'expérience démocratique haïtienne se retrouve ainsi au cœur d'un désert de citoyenneté.

This article analyzes the democratic experience in Haiti by drawing on the history of democracy since ancient Greece. Despite the initial enthusiasm following the fall of the Duvalier dictatorship in 1986, Haiti has struggled to reach a genuine democratic condition. The article examines the challenges facing Haitian democracy, caught in the trap of peripheralism and a Western narrative imposed by the hegemony of developed countries. In Haiti, democracy is reduced to a procedural parody, while the people remain in material and spiritual insecurity, without real sovereignty as political subjects. The Haitian democratic experience is thus located at the heart of a desert of citizenship.
